January 2026 Newsletter
This month at Jolt
Happy New Year, Jolt Fam! Time to get ready for a brand new year of hard work and hitting goals!
We’re kicking 2026 strong with the Apex Cycle, a 7-week Open Prep phase built to boost your strength, conditioning, and skills. Expect heavier lifting under fatigue, classic CrossFit workout formats, and focused work on pull-ups, toes-to-bar, wall walks, pistols, and more.
Whether you're gearing up for the Open or just looking to level up your fitness, this cycle is the perfect way to start the year strong.
Let’s get after it! ⚡
Introducing: Jolt Fitness!
Over the next few months, we'll be transitioning the name of the gym to Jolt Fitness! You'll start to notice these changes on the website, social media accounts, and the PushPress app.
What else is changing? Not much. Same programming, same schedule, same coaches, and same great community! We're also still a CrossFit affiliate so the name change won't have an effect on this year's Open.
If you have any questions, please let us know!

When did you start CrossFit?
I started training at Windy City Strength and Conditioning in Chicago around 2023 and was immediately hooked! Later, I joined CrossFit Jolt when I moved to Princeton to teach ASL at Princeton University.
Why CrossFit? Did you do any other sports in the past?
During the COVID pandemic, I was chair of the Sign Language Program at Columbia College Chicago, and it was an incredibly stressful time. I was experiencing physical issues, and my PT trainer suggested trying CrossFit to improve my core strength and balance. It was a very demanding activity, but I fell in love with it and began doing things I never imagined possible! Before that, I played several team sports—basketball, soccer, and wrestling—while I was a student at Solebury School.
What do you like most about Jolt?
I remember the warm, welcoming feeling when I attended my first workout. I love the small yet strong and committed community; everyone is so supportive. I also appreciate the coaches’ attentiveness to my communication needs during classes and their willingness to adapt WODs whenever I’m recovering from injuries.
What is your favorite movement?
I love weightlifting, especially back and front squats. Besides that, I enjoy jumping rope—though I still need to conquer the mystique of the double under!
Do you have any goals that you want to accomplish in 2026?
Yes! I want to become stronger and smarter about my workouts. I’d love to master TTB (toes-to-bar) and CTB (chest-to-bar) pull-ups.
Would you rather do 500 pull-ups or 500 burpees?
Neither! But if those are the only choices, I’ll do the burpees. Just don’t put that in the WOD…
